About
We are a non-denominational Christian assembly devoted to the faithful teaching of the Holy Scriptures as they are written. Our purpose is to edify believers by laying sound biblical foundations, that each may grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and in faith.
We seek to encourage spiritual growth and to reflect the character of God’s kingdom through lives marked by obedience, humility, and love. We acknowledge that perfection is not attained in this present life, for the only perfect One lived among men without sin and gave His life as a sacrifice for sinners such as ourselves.
All are welcome, regardless of background, life experience, questions, doubts, or struggles. We believe the local church is intended to be a place of healing - a hospital for sinners - where grace is extended freely and the Word of God remains our guiding lamp until the day the Lord calls His people home.

What Should I Expect When Visiting?
You can expect to be welcomed and treated like family.
Our gathering includes approximately 15 minutes of congregational hymnal singing, followed by about one hour of Bible teaching. Please plan to be with us for approximately one and a half hours.
Following the message, we observe the breaking of bread and the drinking of the wine, in remembrance of our Lord’s sacrifice on the cross. After the Lord’s Supper, the meeting concludes.
You are welcome to remain afterward for special prayer requests or to ask Bible-related questions.
Dress
Our congregation dresses informally. Jeans, shorts, flip-flops, and business-casual attire are all common. Please come as you are.
Coffee is available.
Music & Worship
At the Assembly of Christians in Downey, we sing historic hymns of the Christian faith, along with some well-known Christian songs. We do not have professional musicians; instead, we joyfully use the gifts and talents within our local congregation as we worship together.
The Lord’s Supper / Communion
The Lord’s Supper is a sacred time of worship, uniting our focus on Jesus Christ. During this time, we sing, pray, read Scripture, sit quietly, and reflect on the work of our Savior.
All who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior and have identified with Him through baptism are welcome to participate as we remember His death, burial, and resurrection.
If you are unfamiliar with Christian communion, you are warmly invited to observe.
